Spring is here! You’ve heard of spring cleaning your home once the weather turns warmer in St. Louis, MO, but what about taking the time to spring clean your car? Vehicles need to be refreshed every once in a while, too, and there’s nothing like a spring tune-up to keep your vehicle running in top shape.
Read your guide on how to spring clean your car in five easy steps. We’ll also talk about signs your car needs a tune-up.
How was this past winter? Was it harsh? Mild? Either way, pay attention to these three signs your car needs a tune-up. Then, bring your vehicle in for a check-up to our service center near Belleville. We’ll have your engine purring like a kitten.
Next, we’ll look at five ways to spring clean your car, including bringing it in for a spring tune-up.
Freezing temperatures and salt from the road can do real damage to the undercarriage of your engine and your vehicle. Start the spring season with a car wash, either at home or at a car wash. Spring for a premium wash at a car wash because you won’t want to miss any nooks or crannies. If you do it yourself, make sure to add baking soda to the wash water if your car has a strong salt buildup. Baking soda will neutralize any salt buildup and prevent corrosion later on.
Wintertime can cause abnormal air pressure in your tires due to frigid temperatures. Check the tire pressure, look for any cracks or damage, and make sure all four tires are inflated to the correct tire pressure. Another thing to do is have your tires rotated regularly. Check the tire treads for wear. If you see anything abnormal, bring your vehicle to our service center.
Snow and ice can damage your windshield wipers. If your wipers leave streaks behind on the windshield, replace them. New wiper blades are inexpensive and simple to replace, so you won’t even need to pay someone to do it for you. You should replace them every six months anyway. Top off your windshield wiper fluid, too.
Starting your vehicle in cold weather isn’t easy on your battery. Check the strength of your battery by taking advantage of a free battery check at a parts store or service center. If the battery is weak, replace it soon before you have a dead battery on your hands

Some car shops offer fluid top-offs, tire checks, battery checks, and even tire rotation as part of a special for an oil change, including our service team in Columbia.
